Tiger Baseball: Round Rock Hardball Classic Results

The Frenship baseball team opened their 2019 campaign with their traditional opening weekend trip to Round Rock to play in the Round Rock Hardball Classic. Here’s a look at how the Tigers fared last weekend:

FRENSHIP 11, BELTON 1 (Thursday): The Tiger bats were hot to start the tourney as FHS scored four runs in the third inning and five more in the fifth to blow out Belton 11-1. Brennan McFarland was 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the 14-hit Tiger barrage. Caeden Jenkins, Peyten Kennard, Christian Kiser, Colton Brown and Jacob Gutierrez each added two hits. Austin Phillips was the winning pitcher after allowing only two hits and one run over five innings while striking out three.

FRENSHIP 9, ROUND ROCK McNEIL 0 (Thursday): Colton Brown pitched six innings of scoreless baseball with 4 Ks as the Tigers blasted McNeil 9-0. The FHS offense scored five runs in fifth inning led by Luis Nevarez, Caeden Jenkins and Brennan McFarland who each tallied RBI hits in the inning. Jacob Gutierrez went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead FHS in hits. Troy Nations threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen to close out the win.

FLOWER MOUND MARCUS 10, FRENSHIP 1 (Friday): Despite out-hitting Marcus eight to seven, FHS fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 10-1 loss to Marcus. Brennan McFarland and Caeden Jenkins had two hits apiece for the Tigers. Peyten Kennard struck out five on the mound.

ROUND ROCK 8, FRENSHIP 5 (Friday): FHS out-hit Round Rock nine to seven, but Round Rock busted open a 5-5 tie in the bottom of the fourth on their way to an 8-5 win. Brennan McFarland, Caeden Jenkins and Austin Phillips each collected multiple hits for the Tigers.

BRENHAM 11, FRENSHIP 1 (Saturday): Brenham scored six runs in the fourth inning that helped beat FHS 11-1. Jacob Gutierrez led the Tigers with three hits in three at bats.

FRENSHIP 10, ROUND ROCK STONY POINT 9 (Saturday): The Tigers scored eight runs in the first inning and held off a late Stony Point push for a 10-9 victory. Colton Brown hit a home run in that eight-run first while Chance Greene, Jared Younce, Camden Kelton and Isaac Carlin each picked up RBIs. Michael Hernandez went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead FHS. Brennan McFarland, and Christian Kiser added two hits apiece. Luis Nevarez earned the pitching win after working five innings and striking out three. Riley Robinson recorded the last two outs to earn the save.
