Tigers Baseball Splits Two-Game Set with Odessa High

Frenship baseball split a double header with Odessa High last week. Here’s a recap of the two-game series:

ODESSA 3, FRENSHIP 1: In what turned into a pitcher’s duel from start to finish, Odessa was able to put up two runs in the fourth inning and hold on for the 3-1 win. Brock Erculiani was the tough-luck losing pitcher despite pitching a complete game three-hitter with four strikeouts along the way. The Tigers outhit the Bronchos four to three thanks to hits from Austin Phillips, Peyten Kennard, Dakota Champagne and Mason Weathers.

FRENSHIP 8, ODESSA 1: Austin Phillips turned in a dominant performance on the mound with only one run given up on five hits and striking out four Bronchos batters, and the Tiger bats came alive with five runs in the third inning to take control and win 8-1. Dakota Champagne was 3-for-3 at the plate and added two stolen bases as well. Jake Arthus and Colton Brown each had two hits as part of the team’s 11 total for the game.

FHS checks in ranked tenth in the state this week with an overall record to 20-4 and 5-2 in district. The team hosts Tascosa on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. before making the return trip to Amarillo for a 4:30 p.m. first pitch with the Rebels on Friday.
