Tiger Baseball Dominates on Diamond Last Week

The Tiger baseball team continued their winning ways with three more victories last week. Here’s a recap of their successful week on the diamond:

FRENSHIP 7, MIDLAND LEE 3: Last Tuesday, the Tigers broke open a 1-1 tie in the fifth inning with four runs to go ahead and eventually win 7-3. Colton Brown supplied the big hit in the inning with a two-run home run. Brock Erculiani threw a complete game on the mound to earn the win. He allowed only three runs on three hits while striking out five. Mason Weathers and Riley Robinson each collected two hits

FRENSHIP 12, MIDLAND 5: The Tigers scored nine runs over a two-inning stretch that turned an early deficit into a 12-5 blowout win last Friday. After trailing 5-3 after four innings, the FHS bats exploded for three runs in the fifth and six more in the sixth. Austin Phillips provided the big hit – a two-run home run in the fifth– that turned the game and opened the offensive floodgates. In the sixth, Dakota Champagne, Mason Weathers, Riley Robinson, Jake Arthus, and Carson Gordon, all provided RBI hits. Robinson led the way going 3-for-4. Evan Johnson was the winning pitcher after allowing no runs on one hit and six strikeouts in three and a third innings of relief.

FRENSHIP 4, MONTEREY 1: Austin Phillips was dominant on the mound for the Tigers who finished off a perfect week on the diamond with a 4-1 non-district victory over Monterey on Saturday. He gave up only one run on five hits in his five innings of work, striking out four and allowing no free passes. Luis Nevarez and Riley Robinson combined to close out the game in relief. Carson Echols was 2-for-3 to pace Frenship in hits.

The Tigers now stand at 19-3 overall and 4-1 in district, and they are ranked fifth in the state in Class 6A this week by the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association. They return to the diamond Tuesday at Odessa High with a first pitch slated for 4:30 p.m.
