Frenship softball pulled out the brooms last week and collected two big wins in District 2-6A.
Last Tuesday, the Tigers erased a five-run deficit courtesy of timely base hits followed by big home runs. In the fourth inning, FHS scored five runs including an Anna Williams long ball that tied the game. In the sixth with FHS trailing 6-5, Keeley Etchison hit a two-run home run that gave the Tigers a lead they would not relinquish at 7-6.
Caroline Kerr added to the hit parade by going 2-3. Torry Hogan was the winning pitcher with three innings of scoreless relief and two strikeouts.
On Friday, eight different players collected at least one hit – including Hayden Brown’s first home run of the season – in a 7-3 win over Odessa. Brown finished the game going 2-3 with 2 RBI.
Keeley Etchison pitched five innings and gave up only two runs on five hits to get the win.
Frenship softball is now 14-9 on the year and 3-1 in District 2-6A play. They return to district action Friday when they host Midland High. First pitch is set for 7:00 p.m.
