Tiger Softball Stays Hot, Ready for Playoff Run Tiger Softball Stays Hot, Ready for Playoff Run

It was a full night of celebration Thursday for the Tiger softball team, first with Senior Night festivities and capped off with an undefeated district 2-6A title season.

Thanks to another combination of big hitting and dominant pitching, FHS run-ruled Midland High 11-1 in five innings.

The Tigers blew open the game during a six-run third inning that included home run blasts from Caroline Kerr and Qo’be Harvest. Kyla Merritt also added a run-scoring double. Kerr and Erin Boles led the 11-hit barrage with two hits apiece.

Torrey Hogan was powerful yet again in the pitching circle striking out 12 Lady Bulldog hitters in five innings.

Thursday’s win came on the heels of an 11-3 win at Odessa High on Tuesday. Kerr, Maya Mongelli and Angelica Abila all hit home runs, and Hogan struck out 12 batter again for the pitching win.

The Tigers (27-6) enter the Class 6A playoffs as winners of 17 games in a row. They start their playoff journey this weekend in the Bi-District round versus El Paso Socorro.

Game one of the series is Friday at 6:00 p.m. CST. Game two is Saturday at 10:00 a.m. with a third game to follow if necessary. All games in the series will be played at the Fort Stockton High School softball field.
