The Frenship softball team had a good week on the diamond and picked up two big district wins.
The weather was cool and rainy Wednesday in Amarillo, but the Tiger bats were plenty hot as FHS scored in five of their seven at bats en route to a 14-8 win versus Tascosa. Keeley Etchison smacked a two-run double that gave the Tigers the lead in the sixth inning. She would pick up the pitching victory as well after pitching five innings, striking out four and walking none.
Daytona Austin belted a home home and added three RBI in her multi-hit game. Caroline Kerr was also 2-4 with four runs scored and Hayden Brown was 2-3 with a double and three RBI.
Friday’s home match with Odessa Permian proved to be revenge for FHS. After dropping a nine-inning 1-0 decision to the Lady Panthers a few weeks ago, the Tigers scored early to take control of the game then put the game on ice with a five-run sixth inning and won 7-1.
Etchison and Mackenzie Ramirez each had run producing hits in the big sixth inning. Angelica Abila was also 3-3 in the game with a triple and Brown was 2-2. Torrey Hogan pitched a complete game and struck out five to earn the win.
Frenship softball is now 16-10 on the year and 5-2 in District 2-6A play. They travel to Midland Lee Tuesday with first pitch at 4:30 p.m.
