Tiger Hoops Sweep Midland Lee

It was a doubleheader sweep for the Frenship basketball teams Friday night at the Tiger Pit as the Tigers dropped Midland Lee.

The Tiger boys used hot shooting in the first half to take a double digit halftime lead then held on to put away the Rebels 63-53. Cal Dykes was on fire all night dropping 27 points to lead the way. Ryan Bennett chipped in 11. FHS is now 13-13 and 1-2 in district play.

On the girls’ side, FHS built a first quarter lead and expanded it each quarter on their way to a 54-33 win. Maci Maddox led the team with 14 points and Katelin Heise added 12. The Tigers have won four games in a row and finished the first half of District 2-6A with a 4-1 record.

Also on Friday, the girls’ basketball program donated a $400 check to the Make-A-Wish Foundation from money raised during the team’s free throw shoot-a-thon held in November. Each player received sponsorships for each free throws made during the fund raiser.

Frenship will host another doubleheader on Tuesday night when they play Midland High at the Pit. The varsity girls tip at 6:00 and the boys follow at 7:30.
