Tiger Baseball Leaves No Doubt, Wins District

frenship_tiger_pawThe Frenship baseball team stepped on the field Friday afternoon knowing one more win secured the District 2-6A championship.

Five innings later, the Tigers officially laid claim to first place and had a gold trophy to carry home after producing their highest offensive output of the season in a 15-1 pounding of Tascosa.

Five different players had multiple hit games led by senior Chandler Casey.  Casey went 3-for-4 with two doubles and five runs batted in.  Koby Claborn was 3-4 with two RBIs, Tristen Kennard was 2-3 with two RBIs, Bryce Kiser was 2-3 with two doubles, and Kyler Genenbacher was 2-4 with a triple and two RBIs.

The Tigers put the game away early with an eight-run second inning. Casey started the scoring parade with a three-run double. Claborn, Genenbacher, Kennard, and Kiser all had RBI hits in the inning as well.

Casey earned the victory on the mound for Frenship, tossing three scoreless innings of two-hit ball.  Aaron Mayfield and Parker Bingham each worked an inning on the mound in relief.

Frenship (18-7, 9-1) has clinched the District 2-6A championship and number one seed in the playoffs with two district games remaining. The team will wrap up district play this weekend by hosting Coronado Friday at 7:00 before traveling to Amarillo High Saturday at 1:00.
