TIger Baseball Fights Back, Beats Coronado

frenship_tiger_pawIt took a complete-game effort from the entire Frenship baseball team to stay undefeated in district play, but the Tigers answered the call and overcame an early 4-1 deficit and beat Coronado 6-4 in dramatic fashion Tuesday night in Wolfforth.

Trailing by three runs entering the bottom of the fifth inning, Frenship scored two in the frame followed by the tying and go-ahead runs in the sixth. Koby Claborn drove in the winning run in the sixth with a two-run triple that scored both Jaxon Armstrong and Riley Fitzgerald.

Chandler Casey retired the Mustangs in the seventh to pick up the save. Conley Green was the winning pitcher in relief for Frenship. At a time in the fifth when Frenship needed to hold Coronado, Green pitched two-thirds shutout innings.

Claborn led the Tigers at the plate, going 3-for-3 with all three extra base hits. Casey added the RBI single in the sixth that tied the game before Claborn’s game-winning RBI triple.

Frenship has now won 14 of their last 15 games and remains undefeated in District 2-6A at 5-0. The Tigers and Mustangs square off again Friday night at Coronado’s O’Banion Field in the finale of the short two-game series.  First pitch is set for 7:00 p.m.
