Tiger Baseball Stays Undefeated, Beats Tascosa 8-5

frenship_tiger_pawA consistent attack at the plate combined with the effort of Aaron Mayfield on the mound helped the Frenship baseball team stay undefeated in district play with an 8-5 victory on the road Tuesday at Amarillo Tascosa.

Frenship scored in six of seven innings and took advantage of their 10-hit barrage by cashing in with timely hitting.  Kyler Genenbacher led the Tigers by going 2-for-3 at the plate with a home run, two runs batted in and three runs scored.  Koby Claborn was 2-for-4 with a home run and Jake Salyer was 2-for-4 with two doubles.

Mayfield came in relief on the mound in the second inning with Frenship trailing 4-3.  He would go the rest of the way to earn the victory, going 5.1 innings and giving up one run on three hits while striking out three.

Frenship took the lead for good in the fifth inning courtesy a sacrifice fly by Mayfield that scored Dylan Merritt.  Claborn hit his home run in the seventh to add insurance on the scoreboard.

The Tigers are now 10-6 on the year and 3-0 in District 2-6A play.  Frenship and Tascosa will resume their two-game series Friday night in Wolfforth.  First pitch is set for 7:00.
