The Frenship girls’ golf team brought home more gold hardware by winning the District 2-6A championship at Diamondback Golf Club in Abilene on April 3-4.
FHS won the championship by 16 strokes over second place Odessa Permian and qualified for Class 6A Region I Tournament in Arlington on April 24-25. The Frenship Gold team finished in sixth place at the tournament as well.
Individually, Haley Vargas did not let a tough golf course or windy conditions affect her play as she dominated the field by shooting two under-par rounds of 69 and 67 and won the district championship by eight shots.
Alyssa Hamilton and Kaytlin Raney also finished in the top 10 individuals to make the All-District team. In total, eight FHS players placed in the top 20 of the tournament.
