The Frenship girls’ golf team rolled to another second place finish last weekend at the Regional Preview at Lubbock’s Shadow Hills Golf Course.
The 17-team tournament marked the second consecutive tournament that FHS finished behind six-time defending state champion Andrews in the team standings. However, the Tigers did shoot 11 strokes better in this tourney than the week before with a two-day team total of 651.
FHS sophomore Haley Vargas won the individual title with a two-day score of 146 (74-72).
“I am real happy about how we are playing right now,” Frenship girls golf coach Roger Whipkey said. “The two teams from Andrews will probably finish in first and second place in the state championships this year. It is pretty incredible that we give them a run.”
