City of Wolfforth Library hosts Book Club

The Wolfforth Library is joining up with other Texas Libraries to read books that support this years theme of “Know your Neighbor: Cultivating Communities of Compassion”. The program is a partnership between the Texas State Library and Archives Commission and the Texas Center for the Book and provides the basis for a series of community conversations about how to encourage civility, compassion, and stronger communities. The library had their first meeting on June 24th and read Tattoos on the heart by Gregory Boyle. The library was given 10 copies of the first book for the program by the Texas Center for the Book to get the book club started.
Upcoming books are
July 22nd – A man called Ove by Fredrick Backman
August 26th – Refugee by Alan Gratz
September 23rd – Dreamers by Yuyi Morales AND Behold the Dreamers by Imbolo Mbue

The book club will meet on the 4th Monday of each month from 6:30 – 8:00pm to discuss that month’s book. You will need to acquire and read the book beforehand. The library will have 2 copies available for checkout and will add at least 1 additional copy to Overdrive in digital format, but it is not a guarantee that everyone will be able to check it out beforehand. The library will do their best to keep each item circulating and encourages everyone to return the items as soon as they are finished with them.
Libraries are key places in communities for social engagement and interaction making it a safe place to have these types of discussions.  The Wolfforth Library has joined Read Across Texas to bring the conversation to this community and to read books that can help to bring this community together.  All are welcome to join as they work together to cultivate a more compassionate community.
