WOLFFORTH POLICE DEPARTMENT TO HOLD RIBBON CUTTING FOR CITY’S FIRST EVER DRUG MEDICATION DISPOSAL DROP BOX
Police Department and StarCare Specialty Health System’s Lubbock VOICES Community Coalition Asks the Community to Join

WHAT: Wolfforth Police Department (WPD) and StarCare Specialty Health System’s Lubbock VOICES Community Coalition (VOICES) have joined forces to provide a free location for the citizens of Wolfforth, Texas, to safely dispose of unused and expired medications. The ribbon cutting ceremony is Thursday, Aug. 8, 2019, at the Wolfforth Police Department, 302 Main St., Wolfforth, TX.

The prescription drug drop box is designed for year-round disposal and will be installed inside the WPD. The box will be available to the public from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Many households in the community likely have unused or expired medications. The dilemma is what to do with those unwanted prescription drugs. In an effort to offer citizens in the community an easy and secure way to dispose of unwanted prescription drugs, the WPD, with the support from VOICES, has purchased this drug drop box with funds seized from drug dealers. The drop box is designed to offer secure disposal of prescription drugs in pill form.

It is the hope of WPD and VOICES that citizens will take advantage of this new program as it is the safest and most cost-effective solution for disposing of unwanted medications.
