Wolfforth Library Having a BUSY Summer!

The Wolfforth Library’s Summer Reading program has had a record-breaking year!  Over 206 kids are participating in the kindergarten through 6th grade group and 32 kids are in the 7th through 12th grade group. “This summer has been fantastic!!! We have had much more active participants than in my previous 2 summers and we have received a ton of positive feedback.  We mixed things up a little this year by adding small prizes and awards as readers reach certain levels and they have really enjoyed the little incentives along the way” says Kim Brown, Library Director. The Library has also hosted a “Super Hero” themed movie every Friday at noon. This Friday, July 17th will feature the movie “Holes”, July 24th is “Spy Kids” and July 31st is “Dolphin Tale”. The movie times are free for families and concessions sales are available. The money raised through the sale of popcorn and other snacks will be used to purchase the grand prizes for each reading group. “In addition (to weekly incentives), the readers receive prize entries each time they reach certain levels and we will draw for bigger prizes at the end at the Summer Reading Party! The more they read, the more chances they have at winning bigger prizes.  The big prizes are set out on a table behind the circulation desk and I really think this has motivated some of our more reluctant readers. The teen readers have a little different structure, but they have a prize drawing also and for every book they read they get a prize entry.” The Summer Reading Party will take place on July 30th from 12noon to 2:30pm. The party will take place at the Recreation Center at Preston Manor located at 902 Cantebury Ave in Wolfforth. Kids will be able to enjoy pizza, swimming and be awarded prizes. The last day to log books for the reading contest is Monday, July 27th.
