In January of 2020, Wolfforth welcomed another new business to its community when Hometown Tire opened its second location at 801 Hwy 62/82 in Wolfforth. Hometown Tire originally opened in 2014 with its first location in Sundown, Texas. Owner Jake Gregory grew up in Wolfforth and saw a need in the community for a tire store offering both retail and commercial services including brake services, alignment, wheel and tire services including free flat repair and construction and agriculture tires. During the initial stages of planning for his Wolfforth location, Jake reached out to the Wolfforth Economic Development Corporation for help. The Wolfforth EDC offers many different programs to promote growth in the community and worked with Jake in the purchase of a tire alignment machine. Home Town Tire also took advantage of the EDC’s partnership with Leading EDG. Leading EDG is a business coaching and consulting firm that helps entrepreneurs and businesses in the management, operations and financing of small business. Because of the partnership Wolfforth EDC has with Leading EDG, Home Town Tire was able to utilize these services at no cost. When asked about working with Wolfforth EDC and Leading EDG, Jake says, ” They (the EDC) were able to help provide another service for the community of Wolfforth by funding the alignment machine that Hometown Tire uses. They were very friendly and helpful. One of our goals is to help the city of Wolfforth grow. We hope to bring in as much business from Lubbock as possible.”
