When the students at Willow Bend Elementary heard about other youngsters just like them who needed assistance after Hurricane Harvey, they wasted no time to step up and answer the call.
The Willow Bend student body collected $1,657.40 of donations after their week-long fund raising efforts to support the Vines Early Childhood Pre-Kindergarten program in Aldine ISD.
Students were encouraged to participate in a pajama day, crazy hair day, hat day and a superhero day. The teachers also donated through the purchase of jeans passes. The highlight of the week came Friday afternoon when the students purchased their chance to duct tape Principal LeAnn Fisher to the basketball pole.
“The kids and staff have worked very hard to support our sister campus and I am super proud of their hard work,” said Fisher.
