The elementary school welcomed organizations from Lubbock Christian University and Texas Tech University to teach kids more about a college education.

From Texas Tech University (TTU) to Lubbock Christian University (LCU), Wayland Baptist University, Texas A&M University and even Harvard University, Willow Bend focuses on students’ education opportunities beyond their K-12 education.

One way the elementary school teaches students more about their college education is through its “No Excuses University” College Night.

Tuesday (March 7) evening, Willow Bend welcomed organizations from TTU and LCU to teach and interact with the elementary students. Organizations, including the LCU soccer team, golf team, Sr. Art association, TTU’s Kappa Delta Chi, Alpha Chi Omega, Upward Bound and Community Engagement were in attendance and provided students with face painting, games, snacks, free swag and more while talking to them about their respective universities.

Students even got to meet LCU’s “Happy Chap,” the university’s mascot, and take pictures with him.

Willow Bend is a “No Excuses University” campus, which means that the school works to promote college readiness, beginning in elementary education. Each campus works diligently to expose students to colleges and impact the lives of students at a young age.
