Two Frenship Athletes Sign National Letters of Intent

Two Frenship High School athletes will have the opportunity to extend their playing career after signing their national letter of intents Wednesday with their respective schools. Volleyball standout Marybeth Sandercox signed to play at Abilene Christian University while baseball star Kyler Genenbacher signed to play at the University of the Incarnate Word.

SandercoxSandercox, an outside hitter and four-year letter winner for the Tiger volleyball program, compiled 418 kills and 68 blocks during her senior campaign in 2015, adding to her career numbers at Frenship of 1,229 kills, 230 blocks, and 321 digs. The Tigers made four consecutive playoff appearances during her career including the Class 6A playoffs this season.

Sandercox has been a first-team all-district selection multiple years, first on the 2013 District 4-4A team as a sophomore and then on the 2014 District 2-6A team as a junior. Currently, as a senior, she was named a preseason Lubbock Avalanche-Journal All South Plains First Team selection, was named to the Mansfield All-Tournament team, won the Frenship Tournament Outstanding Hitter award, and was a Fox 34 State Farm Player of the Week recipient.

GenenbacherGenenbacher was an instrumental piece for the Tigers as a junior in 2015. He helped lead the team to the Region I semifinals during the program’s first year in Class 6A. He hit .327 with 35 hits, four home runs, nine doubles, and four triples and 27 runs batted in.

Genenbacher was honored as a District 2-6A first team All-District selection and first team Academic All-District selection last season.

Sandercox joins an Abilene Christian program under the leadership of head coach Jason Bibler. Her head coach at Frenship High School is Jennifer McCully.

Genenbacher joins an Incarnate Word program led by head coach Danny Heep. His head coach at Frenship High School is Chad Reynolds.
