Tigers Win Consolation in Frenship Tipoff Classic

The Frenship girls basketball team played a healthy dose of competition this weekend in the the Frenship Tip Off Classic, and at the end of five games, the Tigers finished 3-2 and the Silver Bracket consolation winners. Here’s a look at the results from the weekend:

Frenship 66, El Paso Americas 38: The Tigers opened the tourney hot by building a 38-22 halftime lead and never looking back. Addison Foster set the pace in scoring with a game-high 25 points. Desiree Caldwell added 16 and Lauren Landtroop chipped in 10.

Frenship 73, Midland Greenwood 69: FHS finished off day one of the tourney with a hard fought four-point win versus the Lady Rangers. Alex Barinque came up with a big steal and hit the game-clinching free throws in the final seconds to secure the win. Caldwell’s 23 points set the pace in scoring for the Tigers. Margaret Gaydon scored 13 points and Tatyana Law added 11.

Canadian 56, Frenship 53: The Tigers suffered their first loss of the tourney and of the season on Friday versus Canadian as the Lady Wildcats were able to hit free throws down the stretch to win. Caldwell was 3-for-3 from behind the 3-point line and scored 15 points. Landtroop added 10.

Lubbock Cooper 61, Frenship 59: FHS didn’t have quite enough to overcome an early 15-point deficit and fell to the Lady Pirates. Foster scored 23 points, Caldwell had 12, and Landtroop added 11 to lead the way in scoring.

Frenship 54, Seminole 50: The Tigers ended the tournament as the Silver Bracket consolation winners by outscoring Seminole 16-9 in the fourth quarter to turn a three-point deficit into a four-point win. Foster led the way with 18 points and Caldwell added 17.

At the end of the tourney, Caldwell was recognized for her play and named to the all tournament team.

The Tigers are now 6-2 on the young season and get back on the court Tuesday, November 24 when they travel to Denver City. Tip off for the varsity is set for 5:00 p.m.
