Frenship came out of the gates scorching hot and used the early explosion of offense to build a lead that would last throughout in a 58-52 victory against North Crowley in the area round of the playoff Friday in Sweetwater.
The area championship pushes the Tigers into the regional quarterfinals for the first time since 2011.
After a first quarter that saw the Tigers build a 17-9 lead, FHS opened uptake second quarter on a 12-2 run and led 29-11 midway through the second quarter. At the break, Frenship had doubled up North Crowley with a 32-16 lead.
The Lady Panthers made a run in the third and squeezed a 16-point halftime deficit all the way down to two in the third quarter. But that was as close as they would get as an Ashton Beeles three-pointer and buckets by Addison Wilson and Abre Godfrey would stretch the Tiger lead back to seven with one quarter to play.
Cassandra Awatt led the Tigers with a team-high 20 points. Godfrey and Wilson each added 10.
