The Frenship football season opened last Friday with a long trip to El Paso and a bump in the road versus an experienced and talented opponent in El Paso Montwood. The Rams senior-led team carried them to a 70-14 victory.
The Tigers opened the scoring with an impressive six play, 77 yard drive that included a Myron Harrell 31 yard run followed by a Austin Phillips 29 yard touchdown pass to Nick McCauley. Phillips would add a rushing touchdown from three yards out to start the second half.
The FHS offense churned out a balanced night with 178 yards rushing and 187 yards passing.
Defensively, Christian Kiser and Colton Brown combined to force a fumble takeaway for the Tiger defense. Justyce Bocanegra led the way with six tackles.
Frenship opens their home schedule this Friday when they host El Paso El Dorado. Kickoff is set for 7:00 pm at Peoples Bank Stadium. It’s also Reunion Weekend for Frenship High School. Activities begin at 4:00 pm in the stadium parking lot. Admission is free to the public.
