After suffering their first district loss in heartbreaking fashion to Coronado last Friday, the Frenship softball bounced back in fine fashion beating Amarillo High 11-4 Tuesday night at Frenship.
The Sandies jumped out to an early three-run lead with runs in the first and second innings, but the Tigers answered with three in the third to tie the game. Haley Thomack had the big hit in the inning that that scored teammate Addison Jobe.
Frenship scored three more runs in the fourth thanks to a two-run triple by Jobe. The Tigers then blew the game open in the sixth with a four-run barrage led by K’Leigh Arredondo’s RBI single.
Pitcher Clarissa Gonzales then shut the door in the seventh to secure the win. Gonzales went a complete-game seven innings and allowed no earned runs while striking out three.
Thomack led the Tigers at the plate going 3-for-4 with a double, RBI and two runs scored.
Frenship is now 17-4 on the year and 3-1 in District 2-6A. They open the second half of district play on Friday against Monterey at home beginning at 6:30 pm.
