Tiger Soccer Splits District Openers

The Frenship girls wasted little time making a statement in District 2-6A play with a dominating 6-0 shutout of Odessa High in Friday district opener.

Chloe Woodard recorded her second consecutive hat trick with all three of her goals coming during a 15-minute stretch that ended the first half and began the second. Her barrage of goals put the Tigers well in front of the Bronchos at 4-0.

Natalie Jones started off the FHS scoring with the first of her two goals in the twelfth minute. She added her second goal in the second half, and Brogan Ross capped off the scoring with a goal late in the contest. Madyson Hoel added two assists.

Frenship had 27 shots on goal compared to Odessa’s six.

The Tigers are now 9-3-0 on the season and 1-0-0 in district. They are on the road twice this week with a Tuesday game at Odessa Permian followed by a Friday match at Midland Lee.

BOYS

ODESSA 1, FRENSHIP 1 (OHS 7-6 PENALTY KICKS)

On a cold night in Wolfforth where goals were at a premium, Frenship battled Odessa to a 1-1 tie in regulation before falling in penalty kicks 7-6.

Magnus McSween scored the Tigers lone goal on the night, and Braxton Fleischhauer was magnificent in goal again with 10 saves.

The district-opening loss drops FHS to 7-3-3 and 0-0-1 in district. The Tigers are also on the road at Permian on Tuesday and at Midland Lee on Friday.
