Tiger Baseball Splits Two with Odessa High

Frenship baseball split a pair of games with Odessa High last week and remains atop the standings in District 2-6A.

Last Tuesday, the Tigers opened up the two-game series with an impressive 8-3 home win. A four-run third inning sparked by Colton Brown’s three-run triple proved to be the difference. Carson Gordon added an RBI in the frame.

Christian Kiser and Jacob Gutierrez had two hits apiece to lead FHS at the plate. The Tigers also recorded eight stolen bases.

Austin Phillips pitched a gem, allowing only three hits in six innings while striking out five Broncho batters.

On Friday, Odessa’s Christian Baeza shut down the Tiger bats in a complete-game, two hit shutout of FHS, 9-0. The Bronchos scored six runs in the first two innings to cruise to victory.

FHS is now 16-6 on the season and in first place in district 2-6A at 5-2. This week, the Tigers take on Midland Lee in a two-game series. The teams play Tuesday in Midland at 4:30 p.m. and meet up again Friday in Wolfforth for a 7:00 p.m. first pitch.
