Terra Vista Students Spread Joy through Giving

Students at Terra Vista Middle School have shown how they’re in the holiday spirit by raising money for a month to benefit students in their Santa Buddies program. And with hearts of giving, the eighth grade football players took their volunteer efforts a step further.

Last week, one group of football players went shopping for stocking stuffers and filled their baskets with footballs, blankets, personal hygiene products, warm socks and more.

“The most enjoyable part is seeing our young men being selfless in their giving and also in the thoughtfulness with the action of picking out different items,” said Gentry Griffith, Boys Athletic Coordinator at Terra Vista. “All money raised and gifts purchased will be given to Terra Vista students next week.”

While one group shopped, another stayed at Terra Vista to help their Communities in Schools program by wrapping more than 200 blankets. Students then went to a local assisted living facility to help set up for a Christmas party and interact with the residents.

Lastly, a few of the players assisted in Terra Vista’s Life Skills classroom where they helped with cleaning and organizing, while others were “study buddies” helping with classroom lessons. These acts of kindness and service are a great representation of The Frenship Way. Great job Terra Vista!
