Back in December, Frenship High School students as well as students from all Frenship middle schools competed in the annual Scholastic Art & Writing Awards competition. Scholastic Art & Writing is a National competition held every year and hosted by Wayland Baptist University. The competition is open to grades 7 through 12. Various awards are distributed in this competition, including an Honorable Mention, a Silver Key, and a Gold Key. Additionally, of all the entries, five outstanding artworks are chosen for the American Vision award.
This year, Frenship High School students came away with 1 American Vision, 24 Gold Keys, 9 Silver Keys and 17 Honorable Mention awards.
The Frenship Middle Schools won a total of 36 awards, including 16 Gold Keys, 9 Silver Keys and 11 Honorable Mention awards.
The winning artwork was displayed in the Abraham Art Gallery in the Mabee Learning Resource Center on the Wayland Baptist University campus in Plainview. The Exhibition wassponsored by Wayland Baptist University, the City of Plainview, the Plainview Daily Herald, the Plainview Cultural Arts Council, Inc., and LocalEdge, the Plainview Areawide Phonebook.”
