To get ready for the STAAR test, North Ridge welcomed Frenship football players and cheerleaders as well as Texas Tech University basketball players and Jakeem Grant from the Miami Dolphins.
Monday was a big day North Ridge Elementary students as fourth and fifth graders prepared for the STAAR tests, beginning Tuesday (March 28).
One way they prepared was attending a pep rally in the North Ridge cafeteria, where students and administrators welcomed Frenship ISD football players and cheerleaders as well as Texas Tech University basketball players Justin Gray and Matt Temple and former Texas Tech football player Jakeem Grant, who now plays in the NFL for the Miami Dolphins.
Students played games, chanted with cheerleaders and were awestruck as they heard the football and basketball players speak.
The piece of advice all athletes gave to the students: Listen to your teachers, get a good night’s rest and eat a nutritional breakfast before the STAAR test.
The STAAR test this week is Tuesday through Thursday, with a different test occurring each day for 4-8th graders.
