The Tiger baseball bats found 26 runs and 29 hits last week, and the offensive output helped FHS sweep Odessa High in District 2-6A play.
On a cold and windy Tuesday night in Wolfforth, FHS battled back from a 12-5 fifth inning deficit with two runs in the fifth and six more in the sixth to come back and win 13-12. Landon Everett, who led the offensive charge with four hits including a double, contributed to the late-inning charge with a run scoring hit, and Brock Erculiani added a home run in the sixth as well.
Relief pitcher Peyton Kennard kept the lead in tact and earned the victory after shutting down the Bronchos with 2.1 innings of shutout baseball that included four strikeouts.
Everett (4-5, 2B), Erculiani (2-4, HR), Justyce Bocanegra (3-3, four runs scored), Mason Weathers (2-4, HR), and Adryane Atkins (2-4) each had multiple hits.
On Friday in Odessa, The Tigers trailed in the fifth inning again, but back-to-back four run innings sealed a 13-6 victory. Zariah Pacheco had the big hit in the fifth with a three-run double. Everett added a home run in the sixth along with RBI singles from Dakota Champagne and Pacheco.
Bocanegra (3-5), Everett (2-4, HR), Weathers (2-2, 2B), Champagne (2-4), Pacheco (2-4), and Atkins (2-2, 3 runs) all had multiple hit games.
Erculiani was the winning pitcher after tossing 3.1 innings of scoreless relief.
FHS is now on a five-game district winning streak and sits with a district-leading record of 7-2 (14-11 overall). The Tigers play a two-game series with Tascosa this week starting Tuesday in Amarillo at 4:30. Game 2 is Thursday night in Wolfforth at 7:00.
