Legacy Elementary Students Design and Print in 3D

By Allison Robertson

The 5th graders at Legacy Elementary have been working with the program 3-D Builder learning how to design objects for 3-D printing. They just completed their first project: personalized dog tags.

Students learned how to add and manipulate letters to be printed on their dog tags, all about sizing and moving, to grouping objects and saving projects. The 5th graders learned it takes patience to get things just right.

After successfully saving their finished work, students learned about the 3-D printing process and observed their dog tags being printed.

This project based learning was a hit with the 5th graders and will provide a foundation for those that are interested in 3-D design and printing.
