HMS Students Have a Lock on Poetry

Sixth grade ELAR students at Heritage Middle School had fun with poetry last week when their teachers created an “escape room” for them. Students had to use their knowledge of poetry to answer clues, open boxes with locks, put puzzles together and ultimately escape.

“It was fun and we learned a lot,” said Carson Smith, HMS student.

Teachers identified this area as one where students needed extra practice and wanted a fun way to engage every student. The students who escaped first from each class earned a Sonic treat.

“The exciting part was finding a clue!” said Elly Long. “My group yelled so loud each time we found one!”
