HMS Student Receives Tweet from Nobel Peace Prize Recipient’s Organization

Amanda Harvey, 8th Grade Heritage Middle School Superintendent Select Student, decided to Tweet a photo of her class assignment and got a bigIMG_0460 surprise. Amanda’s assignment was part of a Literature Circle, where a small group of students read and collaborate over a common book, much like a book club. Amanda’s group read the young adult version of I Am Malala, a memoir about the author’s struggle for an education under Taliban rule by the youngest recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize, Malala Yousafzai – a book provided through the generosity of Frenship Foundation Grant donors. Her tweet “Finished my project for I am Malala! Can’t wait to join the movement! @MalalaFund,” accompanied by the illustration created to share with her reading group, received a personal response from the organization. Amanda, inspired by the memoir, is eager to become involved in helping others.
