Frenship ISD and Frenship High School send congratulations to Guy Morales and Elnora Awatt for their selection as Mr. and Miss FHS for the Class of 2017.
Awatt is involved in National Honor Society, HOSA, SkillsUSA and Student Council, and she also serves in the United Way Youth Division, the Early Dedication to Medical Evacuation Program and is involved in church activities. She is the daughter of Margaret Awatt.
Awatt plans to attend the University of Houston Honors College and major in Biochemistry. She plans to become a cardiothoracic surgeon.
“FHS has been an extremely warm, welcoming, and supportive environment to carry out my education and grow as a learner,” Awatt said. “I am truly blessed and very fortunate that I forever and always get to call myself a Frenship Tiger.”
Awatt wants the FHS students in the grades behind her to “be true to yourself, be brave, be smart!”
Morales is involved in National Honor Society, DECA, Bell Crew and Student Council, and he serves on the FISD Strategic Planning Committee, the FISD CTE Advisory Board and the FHS Blood Drive Committee. His parents are Blaine and Syd Sexton.
Morales is looking forward to attending college to major in Computer Engineering, and one day he would like to design and develop consumer electronics for Apple.
“At FHS, I’ve gotten to work with some of the most amazing role models in my teachers and peers,” Morales said. “I have built lifelong friends and made hilarious memories. I have grown my skills in all practices through the leadership and guidance of the teachers, administrators, and other wonderful staff on campus.”
And as for his advice to the next group of FHS students, Morales says “Get involved, study hard and have fun. The experiences you have here in high school can grow and expand your horizons for the rest of your life so make the best of it and enjoy your time here.”
