Girls Soccer Wins One, Ties One in Georgetown

The Frenship girls soccer team finished up their run against the best teams from across Texas with another trip to Georgetown and a tournament there for the second weekend in a row. The results proved the same as the team finished the weekend 1-1-1.

The highlight of the weekend came in the final game of the weekend on Saturday when Alli Holder notched a hat trick that led FHS to a 3-2 win versus Plano West.

The Tigers opened the tourney on Thursday with a scoreless tie versus Kingwood, a team ranked in the Top 10 in Class 6A. On Friday, Isela Martinez scored a goal for the Tigers, but the team fell short in a 2-1 loss to Grapevine.

“The girls did a great job this weekend against some very good teams,” said head coach Gery Joy. “This was the end of a six-game stretch that was the most competitive set of games in our history. Lexi Jackson was able to play in some of the games this weekend after being out since the spring due to injury. She had a great weekend in goal.”

The team returns to action on Friday when they travel to Borger. The match begins at 6:00 p.m.
