Frenship Sweeps Monterey on the Hardwood

Hoops 4Some nights, it’s nice to have good fortune to accompany a great game. On Tuesday night, the combination of skill and fortuity paced the Tigers to a hardwood sweep of Monterey.

In the boys game, Callen Stewart drained a game-tying 3-pointer at the buzzer of regulation to send the game to overtime. Frenship went on to beat Monterey in double-overtime 80-71.

Stewart led the way for the Tigers (19-7, 2-1) with 20 points. Jaxon Parrott 18 points and Collin Houghton scored 16 points for Frenship. The Tigers also got 13 points from Chandler Casey.

The girls moved their District 2-6A record to 3-2 with a close 51-49 win over the Lady Palinsmen. Tatyana Law led the way with nine points, including six in the fourth quarter, Tori Ford added eight points while Margaret Gaydon and Abby Hopper scored seven.

Both teams are back on the Tiger Pit home floor when they host Coronado on Friday, February 6 beginning at 6:00 p.m.
