14HMS034_001Frenship Independent School District announced Friday that Gina Laughlin has been named the new principal of Heritage Middle School.

Laughlin, a ten-year veteran of FISD with fourteen total years in education, has been on the administrative staff at Heritage as assistant principal since the campus opened in 2011. She was named the Region 17 Outstanding Assistant Principal of the Year by the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals in 2014.

Prior to her tenure at Heritage, Laughlin served as assistant principal at FISD’s Westwind Elementary from 2009-2011. She also taught math at Terra Vista Middle School from 2006-2009 and Bennett Intermediate in 2005-2006.

Laughlin takes the place of veteran administrator and former Heritage principal Greg Hernandez who was named principal of Frenship High School on Tuesday.

“I am very humbled, honored and excited for the opportunity the district has given me,” Laughlin stated. “The support from the district, teachers and community has been welcoming and made the transition seamless. I look forward to continuing the traditions at Heritage Middle School by ‘Seeking Perfection and Capturing Excellence.’”

Heritage served more than 825 students in 2014-2015, the largest enrollment of FISD’s three middle school campuses.
