Frenship Independent School District has been invited as one of only 26 districts from across Texas to apply for the Holdsworth Center’s Premier Leadership Program beginning in June 2017.
The Holdsworth Center, a new premier leadership institute based in Austin, was founded by millionaire philanthropist, H-E-B Texas Grocery Chairman and CEO Charles Butt. He invested $100 million in the creation of the center for school district leaders across Texas.
The Premier Leadership Program has the goal of supporting and developing public school leaders in order to improve the quality of education offered to every child in every classroom in Texas. The five-year partnership and training will focus on school leaders identifying and tackling barriers to leadership development within their district.
“The Holdsworth Center is about helping people be extraordinary in the job they are in today,” Butt said. “In addition, we want them to reinvent the way future leaders are selected, developed and supported within their districts, so when a position opens up, they have a tremendous bench from which to select the next superstar.”
Kate Rogers, Holdsworth media spokesperson, added the 26 districts invited to apply already recognized the importance of leadership and its importance for student achievement.
“It’s to transform the way they identify, cultivate, train and support future leaders within the district,” Rogers said.
Of the 26 districts invited to apply, the six winners will be announced in mid-April.
