Frenship ISD Announces New Westwind Elementary Principal

Frenship ISD is excited to announce Brandy Copeland has been selected as the new principal for Westwind Elementary. Copeland joins Frenship with 16 years of educational experience, seven of those spent in leadership roles as a principal or assistant principal.

Copeland, a Snyder native, earned a bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Texas State University and a Master of Education from Lamar University.

She will be making the move to Lubbock after serving Midland ISD for the past 16 years. During the first nine years of her educational career, Copeland taught seventh and eighth grade reading and English and coached volleyball, basketball, track, and cheerleading.

She later served as the Abell Junior High School assistant principal where she was selected as Region 18’s Assistant Principal of the Year. She has also served as the Greathouse Elementary principal and most recently the Goddard Junior High School principal.

Copeland says she is excited to meet her new Westwind family and to kick off the upcoming school year.

“I am beyond excited to have the opportunity to be a part of the Frenship ISD family and even more so with my new Westwind Elementary family,” said Copeland. “I feel blessed and honored to be able to work with such strong leadership and look forward to linking arms with my new team and helping students and staff continue to improve and achieve our goals together.”

Copeland serves as the fifth principal at Westwind Elementary following principal Todd Newberry. She and her husband Stacy have three children, Amanda who serves as a hospice nurse, Austin, a lineman for Oncor, and Sawyer, a senior psychology student at Texas State University.
