The Frenship girls’ golf team had a very successful start to their play for the 2015-2016 season. They started by winning the Amarillo Fall Classic which was held at Tascosa Country Club and Amarillo Country Club on October 9th and 10th. The Tigers won the team championship with district rival Amarillo High coming in second 68 shots behind. Individually for Frenship, Haley Vargas finished 2nd and Madison Caballero 3rd. Other top ten finishers for the Tigers were Hallie Oden, Kaytlin Raney, and Bridget Coonrod.
The Tigers also had a strong showing in the prestigious Red Raider Shootout at the Rawls Course and at Shadow Hills. The team finished 5th in a very strong field while individually Haley Vargas also finished 5th.
The highlight of the tournament was a hole-in-one by Frenship Gold golfer Alyssa Hamilton. She used a 7 iron from 160 yards on hole # 13 at Shadow Hills. It was the first recorded hole-in-one in Frenship girls’ golf history and her first one ever. Kudos to Alyssa and the rest of the Frenship golfers!
