FMS Chess Team Breaking Records Across the South Plains

The Frenship Middle School Chess Team participated in the Texas Tech October Check with Tech Chess Tournament on Saturday October 18th at Estacado High School. Frenship had a historic finish at this tournament with a record setting performance by FMS. The team had 4 players tied for first place with 4 wins and 0 losses.

Cade Salisbury, Garrett Racca, Nate Couto and Ben Myers all finished tied for first place. Finishing in 2nd place with 3.5 wins was Henry Whiting. Frenship Middle school also won first place as a team with a total of 12 out of 12 points. The FMS team had 15 players win at least 3-4 games.Overall FMS dominated the event by finishing with a total of 49.5 points toward the city championship. The previous high was set by FMS last May with 35 points.
