Frenship Middle School, Heritage Middle School and Terra Vista Middle School stood out from the crowd at the University Interscholastic League Band Concert and Sight-Reading Competition held on March 12, 2015 at Coronado High School in Lubbock. All three campus walked away with a “Superior” rating in their three song performances as well as a “Superior” rating in the sight-reading portion, which means the bands entered a room and performed a song in which they had never seen. The “Sweepstakes”, as a superior rating in both competitions earns you, is the highest honor that can be bestowed by the UIL.This is an outstanding accomplishment for these talented students. This makes the 17th consecutive sweepstakes award for FMS under the direction of June Bearden; this is the 2nd time HMS has received a sweepstakes award and 4th year in a row to receive a Division 1 Rating; this is a first time sweepstakes award for TMVS under the direction of David Speer and Jameson Ash, but a 7th overall for TVMS. Congratulations to all our band programs, students and teachers. Well done Tigers.
