Frenship ISD invites the community to join in the celebration of the new Upland Heights Elementary during the official ribbon cutting ceremony scheduled for Friday, September 9 beginning at 9:00 a.m. on the front sidewalk of the campus. A reception will follow in the Upland Heights foyer.
Upland Heights is the eighth elementary campus in FISD. Construction was part of the 2014 FISD bond election passed by voters in May 2014.
Upland Heights stands 115,000 square feet in size, and the facility includes 45 classrooms, five computer labs, a large isolated kindergarten wing, a television studio, a full-size competition gym, and an outside playground that doubles as a community park for the Windstone housing division.
Ground breaking at Upland Heights took place in January 2015. After 18 months of construction, FISD started prepping the building for its first year in July.
The doors opened for the first day of school on Monday, August 22. The campus welcomed 484 students and 47 employees to the inaugural day of instruction.
Upland Heights is located at 10020 Upland Avenue in Lubbock.
