FISD Bond Projects Are Underway and Moving Forward

Numerous projects all classified as part of the $85.2 million bond that Frenship ISD community approved in May 2014 are underway. More than 75 percent of the proposed bond is dedicated to campus construction and renovation with the construction of a Ninth Grade Center and an eighth elementary campus as the two major projects. Other projects included are technology and security upgrades, maintenance improvements, extracurricular advances, and land purchases.

Below is an update of the current bond projects that have started and are progressing:


South ElementaryNew South Elementary (located at 10020 Upland Avenue): Grade beams and spots footings are being dug throughout the pad. Concrete is set to begin pouring the week of April 6. Curb and gutter and caliche base has been laid in a few parking lots around the facility. Electrical work and underground plumbing is set to start the week of April 6.


Soccer Facility - 2Soccer Facility/Turf Fields (located east of Frenship High School athletic complex): Astro-builders is set to begin turf installation on the soccer field Wednesday, April 2, and they will begin removing the existing turf at Peoples Bank Stadium the week of April 13. The east parking lot (visitors lot) is currently being graded, and flat work has begun around the facility. Underground plumbing and electrical will start for the concession stand and restroom building soon. Concrete blocking is set to begin the week of April 6 for the concession stand and restrooms.


Band Practice FieldBand Practice Field (located behind Frenship High School): The framing and footing of the band practice field is complete. The field now awaits the removal of the existing turf at Peoples Bank Stadium which will be transplanted to this location. This will allow the band program to practice on a turf surface without having to move all personnel and equipment across the street.


Westwind RoofWestwind Elementary Roof Maintenance: A brand new roof encompassing the entire surface of Westwind Elementary building is 80 percent complete. This new roof is guaranteed to last for at least 20 years.
