The Frenship High School Youth in Service team attended the Service and Leadership Symposium in Lubbock on September 3rd hosted by the Volunteer Center of Lubbock. The symposium was designed to help students discover how inspiration and vision can help transform their community.
Students and volunteers heard from keynote speaker Adam Braun, a New York Times best selling author and Founder of Pencils of Promise; an award-winning organization that has broken ground on more than 300 schools for children in poverty around the world.
The students also experienced team collaboration opportunities where they brainstormed solutions to real-world community engagement issues, an agency fair where they got to visit with other non-profits from across the South Plains and participated in hands-on service projects. It was a great celebration of the wonderful acts of service performed by youth and community members.
