South Plains Electric Cooperative recently selected two students to send on the 2016 Government-In-Action Youth Tour. The 10 day, all expenses paid trip will take these students to Washington D.C. where they will join other students from all across the nation.
Frenship ISD Senior Ryan Smith was chosen as one of the recipients for this trip! In order to apply for the trip students must be a junior or senior in high school. Once the application was completed for the opportunity, Smith interviewed in front of a panel of judges on why he would be a great Cooperative representative on the Youth Tour. There were 35 candidates vying for the two slots available.
The first round of interviews narrowed the students to six which led to the final interview. Students were quizzed on their knowledge of the coop, knowledge of government, and were asked personal questions. This incredible opportunity will take place rom June 8-17, 2016. Congratulations Ryan on this wonderful experience.
