FHS Girls Track Wins Lubbock Invitational; Tiger Boys Place Fifth

Sarah tackitt - School Record Pole VaultSchool records were broken and gold trophies were collected as the Frenship girls track team won the Lubbock Invitational track and field meet last weekend at Lowrey Field. The Tigers earned points in 10 different events and collected 89 total to edge out district rival Tascosa in the standings and claim first place overall.

Individually, Sarah Tackitt broke the school record in the pole vault with a winning vault of 11 feet, seven inches. Also, the 800 relay team made up of Cassandra Awatt, Margaret Gaydon, Bailey Martinez and Jaliyah Jackson set a new school record with a race of 1:43.33 in the preliminaries. They won the finals with a time of 1:45.52. Brogan Ross also claimed gold in the long jump.

On the boys’ side, FHS scored in 10 different events and racked up 57 points to finish in fifth place in the team standings. Jacob Piel claimed the gold medal in the discus with a throw of 143 feet, seven inches.
