FHS Girls Golf Team Wins First Tourney of Season

New season. New faces. Same results.

After losing three of five team members from a District 2-6A championship team in 2017, the 2018 version of the Frenship girls’ golf team needed little time finding new pieces to pick up right where they left off.

In their first tournament of the season, the blue team shot a two-day team score of 669 to claim the Frenship Girls Golf Invitational and set a new tournament scoring record in the process.

FHS shot a 345 on the first day at Texas Tech’s Rawls Course and followed it the next day with a 324 at the Reese Golf Course. The 669 total broke the old tourney record of 671 and helped the Tigers win the championship by 17 strokes over second place Amarillo High.

The Frenship gold team finished in fifth place at the tournament as well with a two-day score of 773.

Individually, Kaitlyn Gossett placed second by shooting 158 (77-81), Steffanie Roldan was fifth at 169 and Brookyln Nix was sixth with a 170.
