After a tough first round that left the Frenship boys’ golf team sitting in third place midway through the weekend, the Tigers rallied to shoot 301 as a team in round two and won the championship at the District 2-6A Golf Preview last Friday and Saturday at Diamondback Golf Club in Abilene.
FHS shot 325 on Friday and trailed both San Angelo Central and Odessa Permian by five strokes, but four different Tiger players shot in the seventies to tally Saturday’s 301 team score and pass both schools in the standings.
Individually, senior Tripp Wallace won first place with a score of 149 (78-71). Senior Jack Still finished in sixth place with a score of 156 (79-77).
The Tigers will finish the spring season playing in the Amarillo Relays Golf Classic this weekend before starting the District 2-6A Tournament April 10-11.
