Discovery Depot Announces Bennett Depot!

We are very excited to announce the change in ownership of Discovery Depot Child Care and Learning Center and the upcoming opening of Bennett Depot at Bennett Elementary School! Discovery Depot was started in 1991 by Kathy Drake, and she was the owner for 26 years. She built Discovery Depot from a small childcare center to a thriving business that includes the after-school programs at four Frenship elementary schools. She helped raise many Wolfforth and Frenship children over the years and was a tremendous blessing to the community by helping parents, not only with their childcare needs, but as a mentor and friend.

Jay and Sarah Eulenbach purchased Discovery Depot from Kathy in June 2017, and the are excited about the future of the Depot. Sarah is a former teacher with 18 years of teaching experience, mainly with elementary gifted students. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with a math minor from Eastern New Mexico University. She earned her master’s degree in Special Education with a gifted emphasis from the University of North Texas. She is a licensed early childhood through 8th grade teacher in both Texas and New Mexico. Sarah has a life-long love for children, and she places a strong emphasis on the teaching aspect of the childcare center. Her goal is to help the children develop socially, physically, and cognitively to best prepare them for kindergarten. Sarah has this to say abou the purchase of Discovery Depot, “I am very excited about our purchase of Discovery Depot! Kathy has done an amazing job establishing and growing a childcare and learning center that has an excellent reputation for providing a safe, secure environment for children to learn and grow. I plan to continue her vision and feel honored and humbled that she is entrusting me with her life’s work. I have many ideas that I’m hoping to implement over the coming months and years to expand learning opportunities and offer even more options to engage children. I will uphold the standards set forth by licensing and strive to continue to keep Discovery Depot moving forward to new and exciting adventures!”

The Eulenbachs have four sons: a Senior at Texas Tech, a Senior at FHS, an 8th grader at FMS, and a 5th grader at Bennett. The moved to Lubbock four years ago after living in Artesia, NM for 21 years. They targeted FISD as the district of choice for their sons, and they have been very pleased with the educational opportunities that Frenship offers. When FISD began seeking proposals from childcare providers to open daycares in their elementary schools, Jay and Sarah were eager to partner with the school district that has been such a blessing to their family. They were pleased to learn that their proposal had been accepted, and they are thrilled to be opening Bennett Depot, a full-day childcare center at Bennett Elementary School.

Bennett Depot is opening soon, and applications are being accepted for children ages 6 weeks to four years. In addition, the after-school programs, called Depot Express,  are also accepting applications. Depot Express is a unique after-school program because children say at their own school campus from school dismissal at 3:15pm until 6pm. They are provided a snack, given time to complete their homework, allowed to play outside, and offered fun games and toys to play with inside. Depot Express is offered at the following FISD elementary schools: Bennett, Crestview, Oak Ridge, and Upland Heights. For more information about Discovery Depot, Bennett Depot or Depot Express after-school programs, please feel free to call 866-4859 or stop by Discovery Depot at 518 Hwy 62/82 in Wolfforth during the hours of 7am to 6pm Monday thru Friday.
