Requirements: Plumbing Inspector license issued by the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners; valid Texas driver’s license
Prefer experience with building, electrical and mechanical trades and inspections
Regularly review construction codes for all trades and make recommendations for City standards
Field questions and provide information and assistance to builders, contractors, homeowners, and City staff
Plan review and square footage calculations for all construction projects
Perform and document all construction inspections, including re-inspections/red tags
Measure, confirm and document all finished slab elevations
Issue Certificates of Occupancy
Obtain certifications for residential inspector, commercial inspector, mechanical and electrical inspector for both residential and commercial, and energy inspector within three years of initial employment date.
Participate in regular continuing education as required to retain all licenses and certifications.
Acquire comprehensive knowledge of local zoning regulations
Make recommendations for changes/improvements to zoning regulations
Field questions and provide zoning information to property owners, developers, and contractors
Review and approve permits for all construction, including signs, storage buildings, and carports
Monitor for unpermitted construction activity
Schedule and provide legal notice(s) for all Planning and Zoning Board hearings
Attend and document minutes for all Planning and Zoning Board hearings
Schedule and provide legal notice(s) for all Board of Adjustment hearings
Attend and document minutes for all Board of Adjustment hearings
Coordinate with City Secretary and schedule any necessary City Council hearings for zoning matters
Full time position, with benefits. Vehicle provided. $42,000-$44,000 annually, depending on experience.
